While most children envision their futures on the football field or on the big screen, Courtney Dougherty always dreamed of a future in the kitchen. (proof) As a banana lover, Courtney was often disappointed to find that bananas were not center stage on dessert menus and in bakeries. There were so many times when she thought to herself, "This dessert would be so much better if it had bananas in it!"
With degrees from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration and The Culinary Institute of America, she landed jobs in the kitchens of well-known chefs like Charlie Trotter and Gale Gand in Chicago, Daniel Humm at Eleven Madison Park in New York, and The Food Network’s celebrity chef Tyler Florence. However, the dream of starting her own baking business was calling too loudly to ignore, and Courtney decided to follow her passion (and her favorite ingredient!) and launched Bananappeal.
